Smart Teachers is pleased to announce that it has been acquired by digital education company TES Global. TES has been supporting educators for over 100 years and is home to the world’s largest online community of teachers, with over 8 million registered users.
In the UK, TES is home to the leading teacher recruitment business, a national supply teaching business and the TES Institute for teacher training. It is the foremost online education news, analysis and opinion service for teachers, school leaders and other educators, delivered through a global family of news sites, blogs, apps, podcasts and the world’s longest-running education magazine. It supports global higher education through the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, TES magazine and the world’s leading academic jobs board Unijobs.
Smart will be joining forces with other TES Global teacher supply agencies Vision for Education and ABC Teachers, acquired in June 2014 and April 2016 respectively.
This change of ownership will fortify Smart Teachers’ strong commitment to finding the highest calibre teachers for schools, and providing teachers with the greatest choice of roles, job locations, and professional development courses.
Smart Teachers’ co-founder, Richard Fielding said: “I look forward to partnering with Vision for Education and ABC Teachers to build the national pre-eminent provider of teachers, leaders and support staff for schools across the UK. With the TES’s international network our schools at home and across Australia will gain terrific access to the finest candidates.”
TES Global CEO Rob Grimshaw said: “Smart Teachers is a successful business that has a strong presence in the key London supply teacher market in the UK and an extensive office and recruitment network in Australia. It allows us to build stronger foundations in Australian local and international recruitment while reinforcing the connections between two of our core markets that share so much in common in terms of education systems.
“As a company TES Global has had a long and positive relationship with the Australian teaching profession – in fact the majority of teachers in Australia are registered users of our classroom resources marketplace on tes.com – and the quality of education and teachers in the country is widely recognised. We therefore leapt at the chance to bring Smart Teachers into the TES Global group of companies.”
Smart Teachers was founded in 2005 by its very own employees, all of whom remain with the business. With teams in London, New Zealand and across Australia, Smart recruits candidates internationally to fill a wide range of British and Australian school based roles in teaching, leadership, special needs and learning support.
