Penelope Fisher - Golden Smartie May 2017

Penelope Fisher

Congratulations to Penelope Fisher for winning the Golden Smartie Award this month.

Year 1 primary teacher and choir singer extraordinaire, Penelope has been nominated by Mrs Ros Kilsby, Office Manager at The Pointer School.

Penelope arrived in England from Australia at the start of the calendar year to teach at the south-east London school. In this short time, parents at the school have been singing her praises for her inspirational teaching. One parent writes:

“Hi Penelope, I just thought I should drop you a quick line to say that the assembly this morning was a pleasure to watch (and listen to).  What we saw is a clear example of how your teaching is inspiring the children.

[My daughter] has been singing the “because” song at home for a few days now, and a number of the mums mentioned to me that they had heard references from their children to the bullying “e” and “ing”!

I also wanted to say thank you. I am grateful that our children are in such good hands.”

Smart consultant Bianca Brownlow embarrassed surprised Penelope with the award during school assembly last week, commenting that “on two occasions I have visited Penelope at The Pointer School, I knew that she was deserving of this award. Penelope has such a calm and positive rapport with her students and her dedication to their learning is obvious the moment you enter her classroom.”

Penelope is an outstanding teacher who is proactive, innovative and a team player. Thank you for making a positive difference to our children’s education!
