Cost of accommodation

Transport links

Newham is so well connected it must be the borough with the biggest variety of transport options. On top of tube, national rail and bus, you can also catch the DLR or cable car, descend into a foot tunnel, ride the free Woolwich Ferry and even fly away via London City Airport. It just needs a supertram for a full set.

Vibe, type of people that live there

Newham is a densely populated borough east of London’s centre. As well as the regenerated docklands area, Newham also includes some established East End neighbourhoods like Plaistow, East Ham and Canning Town. More than four out of ten people in the borough are aged 25 or under and two thirds are from minority ethnic backgrounds. Despite regeneration efforts in the docklands, east end and Thames Gateway, Newham remains one of the most deprived boroughs in the whole country.

The ExCel Exhibition Centre is a great asset to the area of the Royal Docks. The Emirates Air Line is an amazing opportunity to observe the city from a different perspective, in a cable car link above the river Thames. Take in the spectacular views of your favourite London landmarks such as The O2, The Cutty Sark and Canary Wharf.

Why choose Newham?

Newham is a rich multicultural borough with excellent transport links and a number of famous landmarks.
