RE Teacher

Smart Teachers are seeking an ambitious and passionate Subject Leader of Religious Education to join a high-performing, values-driven secondary school in Hackney, East London. This is a full-time, permanent role starting in September 2025, offering the opportunity to shape and grow a dynamic and inclusive humanities curriculum.

About the role

• Leading the RE department with responsibility for curriculum development, teaching quality and student outcomes

• Teaching RE across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to expand provision at Key Stage 5

• Embedding inclusive, thought-provoking learning that reflects the school’s diverse and multicultural community

• Supporting whole-school initiatives around values, personal development and SMSC

• Mentoring team members and contributing to middle leadership across the school

Requirements

To be considered for the role of RE Teacher you will:

• Holds QTS and has strong experience teaching Religious Education in a UK secondary setting
• Brings a thoughtful, inclusive and reflective approach to curriculum leadership
• Demonstrates high expectations and the ability to inspire and challenge students of all abilities
• Keen to support students’ wider development through assemblies, enrichment and debate
• Has a collaborative mindset and values professional growth

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
