Job role: Recruitment Consultant (Primary Division)
Location: Finsbury, London 
Salary: £22,500 - £27,500 (dependent on experience) + uncapped bonus
Contract: Full-time, permanent  

Smart Teachers is looking to appoint a Recruitment Consultant to join our team in the Moorgate/Liverpool Street area, where you will be working with primary schools across London and the Home Counties.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recruitment consultant to join a market leader in education recruitment, recruiting and supplying high-quality teaching and support staff for short and long-term placements and permanent roles.

Duties and responsibilities

You will provide a vital link between clients and candidates. The role is demanding and diverse and involves:

  • Working with a large client base - many of our schools work exclusively with Smart Teachers.
  • Using sales, business development and marketing techniques and networking opportunities to attract and retain business from client schools.
  • Visiting clients to build and develop close working relationships.
  • Developing a good understanding of client schools; what they do and their culture and environment.
  • Advertising vacancies by placing adverts on a variety of job boards and tes.com (unique in the marketplace).
  • Using social media to advertise positions, attract candidates and build relationships with candidates, employers and the teaching community.
  • Headhunting - identifying and approaching suitable candidates who may already be in work.
  • Using candidate databases to match the right person to the client's vacancy.
  • Receiving and reviewing applications, managing interviews and creating a shortlist of candidates for the client.
  • Requesting references and checking the suitability of applicants before submitting their details to the client.
  • Briefing the candidate about the responsibilities, salary and benefits of the job.
  • Preparing CVs and correspondence to forward to clients in respect of suitable applicants.
  • Organising interviews and trial days for candidates as requested by the client.
  • Informing candidates about the results of their interviews.
  • Using our Salesforce system to manage short and long-term bookings.
  • Co-ordinating sponsorship and engagement activities for client schools.

The successful candidate 

Will have/be:

  • Excellent communication, presentation and sales skills.
  • Ability to grow a warm primary desk.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in using IT equipment and software.
  • Ability to organise your own workload, meet deadlines and use your initiative.
  • Self-motivated and resilient.
  • A professional and ethical approach to business.
  • Ability to forge and maintain relationships over the telephone and face-to-face.
  • Desire to exceed the highest levels of customer service.

Job role: Divisional SEND Manager 
Location: Finsbury, London

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Divisional Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Manager at leading education recruitment agency Smart Teachers in London, part of the Tes supply group.

This billing manager role requires a person with passion and determination to fully realise our plans to be the go-to agency for SEND supply staff and permanent recruitment in London and the Home Counties.

Leading from the front, the successful candidate will take responsibility for managing a team of three SEND Recruitment Consultants and a Resource Consultant.

Here at Smart Teachers, we pride ourselves on providing a quality and ethical recruitment service to both candidates and schools. The Divisional SEND Manager will possess a matching professional and ethical attitude to business and, with the support of the senior management team, take the already existing business to the next level.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have an excellent understanding of the SEND sector.
  • Possess a strategic aptitude with the initiative, drive and commitment to develop existing business relationships and seek new opportunities.
  • Motivate and lead a growing SEND team.
  • Have the ability to create and maintain relationships over the phone and face-face.
  • Be prepared to volunteer in client SEND schools to gain further insight.
  • Drive the company CPD provision forward, including face-to-face training such as Team-Teach, as well as the online suite of courses.

Smart Teachers is currently looking to appoint an exceptional Recruitment Resourcer to join our London office in Finsbury. This is a full-time, permanent position starting as soon as possible. 

Smart Teachers is a leading education recruitment agency, who provide temporary and permanent teaching and support staff for primary, secondary and SEND schools across London and the Home Counties. 

As part of Tes Global, one of the largest educational organisations in the world, we strive to provide the best possible recruitment solutions to our client schools and deliver the best possible service to our candidate teachers, teaching assistants and support staff. 

Duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Writing creative job adverts to help attract new candidates. 
  • Posting job adverts and proactively searching for candidates on targeted job boards and social media. 
  • Assessing CVs for key candidate skills and abilities. 
  • Processing applications, booking-in and conducting candidate interviews. 
  • Completing registration paperwork for successful candidates as well as using our Salesforce system to record and manage your work. 

The successful candidate

Must have:

  • Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficient in using IT equipment and software. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Be able to forge and maintain relationships over the telephone and face to face. 
  • Ability to organise and manage a busy workload efficiently and effectively. 
  • The ability to act on their own initiative. 
  • Experience in the same or similar role would be preferential but not essential. 

Working pattern: 

  • During term time:  9am – 6pm
  • Reduced hours during the school holidays
