We are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with Global Developmental Delay (GDD) at a warm and inclusive primary school located in Forest Gate. This role will involve working with students who require additional support, including personal care, to help them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
About the role
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support for children with Global Developmental Delay, adapting teaching materials to suit individual needs
- Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, dressing, and feeding, ensuring dignity and respect are upheld at all times
- Work with teachers to implement individual education plans (IEPs), providing targeted support to help students progress
- Support students in developing communication, social, and motor skills, using a variety of strategies to suit their developmental level
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting independence and self-esteem
- Liaise with parents/carers and other professionals to provide updates on the child’s development and well-being

Requirements
To be considered for the role of SEN Teaching Assistant you will:
- Have experience working with children with Global Developmental Delay or other special educational needs is essential.
- Have experience in providing personal care to children, or a willingness to be trained in this area
- Have knowledge of strategies for supporting children with developmental delays, such as sensory play or communication aids (e.g., Makaton)
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Relevant qualification in childcare or special educational needs (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent)
