We are currently working with a number of welcoming primary schools across Hammersmith that are looking for experienced and committed SEND Teaching Assistants to join their teams on a supply basis.
About the role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning and feel confident and included within the classroom.
Depending on the school and individual pupil, responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEND.
- Supporting children with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and other learning difficulties.
- Helping pupils engage with lessons and adapt activities where appropriate.
- Working alongside class teachers and the wider SEND team to support individual learning needs.
- Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and social development.
- Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions, break times and other activities where required.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with children while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Following individual support plans and school policies.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Teaching Assistant you will:
- Experienced working with children with SEND, either in a school or another relevant setting.
- Patient, caring and confident when supporting pupils with additional needs.
- DBS on the update service
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider school team.
- Confident supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm classroom environment.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- DBS on the update service
- Previous school-based experience in the UK
