SMART Teachers is recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants to work in a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Hounslow from September 2026.

About the role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll support teachers across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, helping pupils reach their full potential both academically and socially.

You'll work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, assisting with classroom activities, supporting individual pupils and small groups, and contributing to a positive and engaging learning environment.

Every day offers the chance to gain practical classroom experience, making this an ideal role for graduates considering a future in teaching or another child-focused profession.

Kickstart Your Career with SMART Teachers' NTAP

As part of SMART Teachers, you'll have access to our National Teaching Assistant Programme (NTAP)—a specialist training programme designed to prepare graduates for success in primary schools.

Through NTAP, you'll benefit from:

  • Comprehensive online training designed by education experts
  • Safeguarding and child protection training
  • Behaviour management and classroom support strategies
  • Ongoing guidance from experienced education consultants
  • A recognised pathway into long-term school roles and teacher training

Whether your ambition is to become a Primary Teacher, Educational Psychologist, SEN Teacher, or Speech and Language Therapist, NTAP provides an excellent foundation for your future career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning across the primary curriculum
  • Work with individual pupils and small intervention groups
  • Help prepare engaging classroom activities and learning resources
  • Encourage positive behaviour and active participation
  • Support pupils with varying learning needs
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and parents
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

About the school

SMART Teachers works in partnership with a wide range of welcoming and well-established primary schools across Hounslow, including community schools, academies, faith schools, and multi-form entry settings.

Each school is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers and dedicated leadership teams who are passionate about developing future education professionals.

Many of our partner schools have a proven track record of supporting graduates, with several Graduate Teaching Assistants progressing into teacher training, Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) positions, and permanent school-based roles. Whether you're placed in EYFS, KS1, KS2, or within SEND provision, you'll receive valuable classroom experience that will help build the confidence and skills needed for a successful career in primary education.
