Primary ECT

SMART Teachers is recruiting enthusiastic ECTs to work across a variety of welcoming and supportive primary schools in Ealing from September 2026.

About the role

As a Supply Primary Teacher, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across the primary age range, ensuring pupils remain motivated and continue making excellent progress.

Whether you're covering a class for a single day or undertaking a long-term teaching role for a full term or academic year, you'll be supported by both the school and your dedicated SMART Teachers consultant throughout your placement.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality lessons across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
• Follow school planning or prepare lessons for longer-term assignments
• Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
• Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management
• Assess pupils' progress and provide feedback where appropriate
• Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents
• Adapt confidently to different year groups and school settings

About the school

We work with a large network of fantastic primary schools across Ealing, including community schools, academies, faith schools, and multi-form entry settings. Many of our partner schools are recognised for their supportive leadership teams, strong mentoring culture, and commitment to helping ECTs thrive during the early stages of their teaching career.

You'll have the opportunity to teach in EYFS, KS1, and KS2, gaining invaluable experience in a variety of classroom environments while expanding your knowledge of the primary curriculum.

Many schools also use long-term supply as a pathway to permanent teaching appointments, making this an excellent opportunity for an ECT looking to establish themselves within a school community.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Primary ECT you will:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or currently completing your teacher training with QTS due before September 2026
• Passion for delivering high-quality primary education
• Strong knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

• Years of previous experience
• QTS
