General Cover Teacher – Bexley

Smart Teachers are currently recruiting for a General Cover Teacher with QTS to work across schools in Bexley and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for an adaptable and confident teacher looking for flexible supply work, with opportunities available from September 2026.

About the role

As a General Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects and year groups. You will ensure students remain engaged in their learning and that high standards of behaviour are maintained in the absence of their usual teacher.

The successful candidate will:

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across all key stages
• Supervise and support students across a range of subjects.
• Maintain effective classroom and behaviour management.
• Adapt confidently to different year groups and school environments.
• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Provide feedback to the relevant staff where required.

Our partner secondary schools across Bexley and Bexleyheath provide supportive and engaging learning environments, with high expectations for both students and staff.

The role would suit a teacher who enjoys variety, can quickly build positive relationships with students and is confident stepping into different classrooms at short notice.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of General Cover Teacher – Bexley you will:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching within a secondary school setting.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to deliver pre-planned lessons effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

• The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant experience working within a school setting.
