Reception Teacher

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brent is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced EYFS Teacher to join their team and teach a Reception class on a long-term basis.

About the role

As the Reception Teacher, you will take responsibility for planning and delivering an engaging EYFS curriculum that supports children's academic, social and emotional development. You will create opportunities for children to learn through a combination of structured teaching, play-based activities and practical experiences.

A key part of the role will be delivering effective phonics teaching, so the school is particularly keen to hear from teachers with phonics training and experience. You will work closely with the EYFS team to monitor children's progress and ensure learning is appropriately adapted to meet individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons and activities across the EYFS curriculum.
• Teach phonics effectively and support children in developing early reading skills.
• Create a stimulating and well-organised Reception learning environment.
• Provide a balance of adult-led activities and purposeful child-initiated learning.
• Monitor and assess children's progress across the EYFS framework.
• Adapt teaching and activities to support different abilities and developmental needs.
• Establish positive routines and promote good behaviour from an early age.
• Support children's personal, social and emotional development.
• Encourage communication, language and early literacy development.
• Develop children's confidence, independence and curiosity.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
• Work collaboratively with the wider EYFS and teaching team.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Reception Teacher you will:

• QTS or an appropriate teaching qualification.
• Phonics training and practical experience delivering phonics.
• Excellent classroom management and organisation skills.
• Previous experience teaching within EYFS, ideally Reception.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

• QTS
• Phonics training
