Smart Teachers is working in partnership with a leading London-based public transport safety initiative to recruit a confident and community-focused School Liaison Officer to support the delivery of Project Guardian across secondary schools.

About the role

The School Liaison Officer will act as a key link between schools and a major London transport safety programme focused on tackling unwanted sexual behaviour and improving reporting confidence among young people.

You will deliver engaging assemblies and workshops, build strong relationships with Designated Safeguarding Leads and pastoral teams, and support schools in embedding preventative education around safe travel and respectful behaviour.

The role involves regular travel across London.

The initiative works closely with secondary schools, colleges, safeguarding teams, and community partners to deliver preventative education through assemblies, workshops, and staff briefings. It is part of a broader strategy to improve passenger confidence, increase reporting of incidents, and ensure that young people feel safe and supported when travelling across London.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of School Liaison Officer you will:

  • Experience working with young people in schools, colleges or youth settings
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Confidence delivering presentations to large groups
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in PSHE, pastoral support, youth work, or community safety (desirable)

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Suitable education based experience
