We are seeking a proactive, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our successful Science Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for science and practical learning to support the delivery of high-quality science education across Key Stages 3 and 4

About the role

  • Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for practical science lessons.
  • Maintain laboratories, preparation rooms and science equipment to a high standard.
  • Ensure chemicals and equipment are stored safely in accordance with current regulations.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering and monitoring departmental resources.
  • Support teachers during practical activities where appropriate.
  • Undertake risk assessments and help ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including COSHH.
  • Dispose of laboratory waste safely and responsibly.
  • Assist with the development of practical resources and demonstrations.
  • Support enrichment activities, science clubs and events where required

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Science Technician you will:

  • Experience working in a laboratory, school science department or similar environment (desirable).
  • A good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and Science.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
  • Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures, including COSHH (desirable).

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Suitable technician experience
