Smart Teachers is working with a high-performing secondary school in Outer London seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated SENCO to join its leadership team from January 2027.
About the role
- Lead and strategically develop SEND provision across the school.
- Ensure statutory responsibilities for pupils with SEND and EHCPs are met.
- Work closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies.
- Monitor student progress using assessment data and implement targeted interventions.
- Lead, deploy and develop Teaching Assistants to ensure high-quality support for pupils.
- Promote inclusive teaching practices and provide guidance and training to colleagues.
- Support transition planning and personalised learning for students with additional needs.
- Contribute to whole-school improvement and inclusive education strategies.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of SENCO you will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination or be willing to complete it
- Have successful teaching experience within a secondary setting
- Demonstrate excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Be confident analysing student data to drive improvement
- Have a strong understanding of SEND legislation and inclusive practice
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Suitable SENCO experience
