Smart Teachers are currently working with a supportive secondary school in East London who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with severe autism.
About the role
his is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEND professional, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Worker, or individual with a strong background in autism support to make a meaningful impact on the educational and personal development of a young learner.
The successful candidate will work closely with the pupil, school staff, and wider SEND team to provide consistent support, helping the pupil to access learning, develop communication strategies, and feel safe and confident throughout the school day.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Secondary SEND TA you will:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with autism and complex SEND needs
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach with the ability to build trusting relationships
- Experience supporting pupils with anxiety, emotional regulation, or challenging behaviour
- Confidence implementing strategies to support positive behaviour and engagement
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Suitable SEND TA experience
