Position: Teaching Assistant - Autism Support

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team, specifically to support children with autism. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff members to provide tailored support, ensuring that each child can thrive and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with autism, both in and out of the classroom.
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and other learning strategies.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and independence.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to monitor and report on student progress.
- Adapt teaching materials and resources to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Participate in relevant training and professional development activities.
About the school
We are a vibrant and inclusive primary school located in Plaistow, Newham, dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for all our students. Our school is home to approximately 300 children, and we pride ourselves on fostering a warm, caring, and inclusive atmosphere.
Requirements
To be considered for the role of SEN Teaching Assistant you will:
- Have prior experience working with children, particularly those with autism, is highly desirable
- Have a passion for education and a genuine interest in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)
- Have the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Have relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) are an advantage but not essential
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Experience supporting children with SEN
