We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to join our DT team after February half term. You will support practical lessons, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe, well-organised workshop. Ongoing role, likely until the end of the academic year.

About the role

As a Design & Technology Technician, you will play a key role in supporting both staff and students across all areas of the DT curriculum. Responsibilities include preparing materials, setting up equipment, assisting with practical lessons, maintaining machinery and tools, and ensuring the workshop remains safe and well-organised. The ideal candidate will have practical DT experience, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting the department’s teaching and learning goals.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Design & Technology Technician you will:

  • Practical experience in Design & Technology, ideally in a school or workshop setting
  • Competence in using a range of DT machinery, tools, and equipment safely
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage resources and materials efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures in a workshop environment
  • Good communication skills to liaise with teaching staff and students
  • Flexible and proactive approach to supporting practical lessons

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Practical experience in Design & Technology, ideally in a school or workshop environment
  • Basic knowledge of DT machinery, tools, and materials
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures in a workshop setting
  • Ability to follow instructions and support teaching staff in practical lessons
