A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in the RM7 area is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026.

SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time
Mainstream Primary School
Location: Romford (RM7)
Start Date: September 2026

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the school's SEND team to support pupils with additional learning, communication, and emotional needs. The role may involve providing 1:1 support, working with small intervention groups, and helping pupils access the curriculum effectively throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing targeted support for pupils with SEN
  • Working on a 1:1 basis and with small groups
  • Supporting learning across the curriculum
  • Assisting with behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
  • Liaising effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents where required

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEN Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN is highly desirable
  • Experience working in a school environment is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Patient, caring, and resilient nature

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Years of previous experience
