Smart Teachers are working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Redbridge who are seeking to appoint a SEND Deputy Head of Year (Non-Teaching) to join their dedicated pastoral team.

About the role

  • Provide dedicated pastoral support for students across KS3 and KS4, particularly those with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students, helping them overcome barriers to achievement.
  • Support students with EHCPs, SEN needs, and individualised support plans.
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement, implementing strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Work alongside teaching staff and the SEND department to ensure students are fully supported in lessons.
  • Lead interventions and mentoring sessions to support students’ emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to provide effective support.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Deputy Head of Year you will:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students within a pastoral, SEND, mentoring, or educational support role
  • A strong understanding of SEND, inclusion, and strategies to support students with additional needs
  • Experience managing behaviour and supporting students who may face barriers to learning
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and families

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Suitable pastoral experience
