Smart Teachers are working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in Outer London to recruit an ambitious and inspirational Head of Drama for September 2026
About the role
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership of the Drama department, securing excellent teaching, strong student engagement and positive outcomes
Key responsibilities include:

Leading curriculum development and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning

Promoting a culture of creativity, performance and academic rigour

Using assessment data to drive progress and close attainment gaps

Coaching and developing colleagues within the department

Contributing to whole-school priorities and enrichment opportunities
You will play a key role in inspiring students, raising aspirations and ensuring Drama contributes meaningfully to the wider life of the school

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Head of Drama you will:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- A strong track record of successful secondary Drama teaching
- Experience of leading or contributing to curriculum development
- The ability to inspire, challenge and motivate students and colleagues
- A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Suitable teaching experience
