Smart Teachers are working in partnership with a large, high-performing secondary school in Outer London to recruit an ambitious and inspirational Head of Science for September 2026.
About the role
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership of a large and successful Science department teaching across KS3–KS5, including Combined and Triple Science at GCSE and A-Level courses
You will be responsible for:

Leading curriculum development and ensuring high-quality teaching and learning

Driving exceptional outcomes and progress across all key stages

Using data effectively to inform intervention and raise standards

Developing subject-specific pedagogy and supporting staff development

Contributing to whole-school improvement and culture

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Head of Science you will:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- A strong track record of successful secondary Science teaching
- Experience of leading or contributing to curriculum development
- The ability to inspire, challenge and motivate both students and colleagues
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Suitable teaching experience
