Smart Teachers are working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in Redbridge to recruit an ambitious and experienced Second in Charge of English.

About the role

  • Support the strategic leadership and development of the English department
  • Deliver high-quality English lessons across KS3–KS5
  • Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies
  • Support curriculum planning and departmental improvement initiatives
  • Coach and mentor colleagues to enhance teaching and learning
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Second in Charge of English you will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Proven track record of raising attainment and progress
  • Experience supporting leadership or leading initiatives within a department
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Suitable teaching experience
