Smart Teachers are working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in Redbridge to recruit an ambitious and experienced Second in Charge of English.
About the role
- Support the strategic leadership and development of the English department
- Deliver high-quality English lessons across KS3–KS5
- Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies
- Support curriculum planning and departmental improvement initiatives
- Coach and mentor colleagues to enhance teaching and learning
- Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Second in Charge of English you will:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong experience teaching English at secondary level
- Proven track record of raising attainment and progress
- Experience supporting leadership or leading initiatives within a department
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Suitable teaching experience
